First you will visit the Popol Vuh Museum that offers the visitor a unique exploration of the history of Guatemala, illustrated with one of the best collections of pre-Columbian and colonial art in the country. The museum is a private, scientific, non-profit institution, incorporated to the Universidad Francisco Marroquín.
Adjacent you will find the Ixchel Museum. Ixchel was the Maya goddess of fertility and weaving, in the pre Hispanic era. A collection of textiles from approximately 120 indigenous communities is on display here, providing a good introduction to the history of the crafts in this country. Most of the textiles have their provenance from indigenous communities in the highland area of Guatemala.

GUATEMALA CITY TOUR
